Chairman & CEO

Jeffrey F. O’Donnell brings exceptional operational experience as well as extensive experience in the healthcare industry, merging a solid, traditional corporate background with emerging growth experience. Most recently, Mr. O’Donnell served as President and CEO of PhotoMedex from 1999 to 2009. Prior to PhotoMedex, he joined Radiance Medical Systems (originally Cardiovascular Dynamics) as Vice President of Sales and Marketing from 1995 to 1997 and then from 1997 to 1999 served as its President and CEO.  Subsequently he assumed a role as non-executive chairman of the board. From 1994 to 1995 Mr. O’Donnell held the position of President and CEO of Kensey Nash Corporation. In 2005 Mr. O’Donnell was named LifeScience CEO of the year by the Eastern Technology Council. Additionally, he has held several senior sales and marketing management positions at Boston Scientific Corporation, Guidant Corporation and Johnson & Johnson’s  Orthopedic Division. Mr. O’Donnell is currently an outside Board Member of Endologix, Inc., Replication Medical, Inc., and is  on the Medical Advisory Board of Safeguard Scientific. He is also a Managing Director and Venture Partner of BioStar Ventures.

 

JeffCJeffrey P. Carpenter, M.D.
Chief Scientific Officer

Jeffrey P. Carpenter, M.D. is Professor and Chief of the Department of Surgery at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Camden, NJ and Chief of Surgery for the Cooper Health System. Formerly, he was Professor of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. A board certified vascular surgeon, Dr. Carpenter’s clinical specialties include conventional and endovascular abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysm surgery, carotid artery procedures (surgery and angioplasty with stenting) and bypass surgery. Dr. Carpenter has been active in the development of minimally invasive endovascular techniques for vascular surgery. He is the principal investigator of numerous endovascular device trials. He has worked extensively in the field of cerebral embolic protection devices for use in carotid angioplasty. He serves on the scientific advisory boards of many endovascular device manufacturers, including Endologix, Edwards Lifesciences, St. Jude Medical, Cryolife and others. Dr. Carpenter recently hosted a PBS special on aortic aneurysm disease for the Healthy Body Healthy Mind series entitled 'AAA: The Silent Killer'. He has been honored by America’s Top Doctors, Best Doctors in America, America’s Top Surgeons, Philadelphia Magazine’s “Top Doctor” award and numerous other clinical and professional awards. He has authored over 200 scientific publications and is a member of several editorial boards including Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and the Journal of Vascular Surgery. Dr. Carpenter graduated from Amherst College, and the Yale University School of Medicine.

 

CarolCarol A. Burns
Vice President of Product and Business Development

Carol A. Burns has experience with various key marketing and sales roles for both large and small start up medical device companies.  Most recently, Ms. Burns was Director, International Sales and Marketing at Animas Corporation, (acquired by Johnson and Johnson) where she was responsible for developing OUS marketing strategies and generating sales for insulin pump therapy products through a worldwide distribution network.  Prior to that Ms. Burns served as the Managing Director, Europe at Ventrica, Inc. (acquired by Medtronic). While living in Frankfurt, Germany she had responsibility for both European clinical trial execution and European commercialization of the first automated distal coronary anastomotic device. From 1996 to 2001 Ms. Burns held various management positions at Guidant Corporation. Ms. Burns and her team were in charge of developing a comprehensive physician training program for the endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair products. Ms. Burns also worked within the Cardiac Surgery Group on the VasoView® System platform for endoscopic vessel harvesting as well as worked at Origin Medsystems, Inc., Guidant's Minimally Invasive Surgery division.

Ms. Burns received her BSN degree from The College of New Jersey, in Ewing, New Jersey.

 

Tiffini Rae Diage, MPH
Director Quality & Regulatory Affairs

Tiffini Diage has extensive experience in managing and developing Quality, Clinical, and Regulatory Affairs departments in the medical device industry. Ms. Diage has worked for several successful start up companies including Smart Therapeutics (acquired by Boston Scientific), Cardica (IPO), and many others in a consulting capacity. She has developed and managed ISO 13485 and GMP compliant Quality Systems, incorporating individualized state of the art technology, including electronic document control systems. Ms. Diage has received FDA and CE Mark clearance for several cardiovascular surgery implant devices, endovascular devices, and provided regulatory guidance and support for several other technologies. In addition, Ms. Diage has managed large US and OUS pre-market approval (IDE) clinical trials and post market surveillance registries.
